If the idea of an old-school V8 sports coupe appeals, the RC is going to be high on your wishlist. The coupe lines suit the Lexus look and that masterful 5.0-litre engine gives it a dramatic noise. The cabin, meanwhile, is a proper luxury environment. Quality is as high as you’d expect from a Lexus car leasing deal and the car comes with a reassuring reputation for reliability.
The RC focuses on style and performance, but it holds its own on the practicality front. The 366-litre boot is slightly larger than that of the Mercedes-AMG C63, but you’ll find more in the back of an Audi RS5 or a BMW M4. That said, the boot is only slightly smaller than you’ll get in a Volkswagen Golf, so you can fit plenty in there. Pretty much everything you need will go in the back – from shopping to overnight bags.
With the 300h hybrid versions of the RC now discontinued, the only option is a big V8. The 5.0-litre engine is designed for power, rather than economy, so it isn’t as economical as some smaller engines. Officially, it’ll return 23.9mpg, which is substantially less than the C63. The Mercedes’ 4.0-litre engine claims more than 30mpg.

The boot is bigger than that of the C63, and there’s enough space for weekends away, day-to-day life and short holidays.
